There is already one of the so-called residential cruise ships sailing and another two under construction, so everything indicates this trend will continue to grow as an alternative to traditional buildings.
The pioneer was a vessel called The World which has been sailing since 2002. The ship has 165 individual homes. The owners, who are a privileged group of 20 different nationalities, are the ones who decide the itinerary that the boat will follow, which goes around the world every two to three years.
This allows for residents to move around the world from the comfort of their homes and have trips and curated excursions when they arrive at shore.

NJord and Narrative are two other residential superyachts that will offer similar experiences.
NJord is expected to be delivered in 2024. It will include 118 private residences from 2 to 6 bedrooms plus 16 additional suites.
It will also have an extensive amount of amenities for its residents to enjoy. Including three swimmingpools, night clubs, jazz clubs, observatory, heliport, etc.
This massive boat will also travel around the world during the year.
Finally Narrative by Storylines is a slightly different concept that aligns with the previous ones when it comes luxury and having a personal home at sea.
The main difference is that the residences will be available both for sale and rent.
Also, there will be a much higher number of apartments, 547 and that will defy even the most luxurious ones on land.
This exclusive vessel will include 20 restaurants, and bars, a garden, running track, Yoga studio and gym, pet exercise area, golf simulations, medical and wellness center, bowling alley, art studio, cinema, etc.
In addition, this complex will also have a schooling system for children on board.
